Last week Yahoo confirmed a security breach to their systems which caused the exposure of personal information for over 500 million Yahoo accounts. The Yahoo systems affected include Yahoo Mail, Tumblr, Flickr, and Fantasy Football.
What does this mean for Givelify users?
Security is our top priority. We protect the safety and security of your personal and financial information as though it were our own. You can read more about our security measures on our main website.
If you use your Yahoo email address as your login credential for either the Givelify dashboard or mobile giving app, we recommend taking the following steps to protect yourself.
For Donors
Step 1: Reset Your Givelify Donor Account Password
To reset your password in the Givelify mobile app for making donations:
- Open the Givelify app on your phone. If you are currently logged in, sign out of the app.
- From the sign in screen, tap Forgot Password.
- On the Forgot Password screen, enter your email address and tap Send Instructions.
You will receive an email with a link to reset your password.
You can also find these instructions on our Support site.
Step 2: Check Your Giving History
Once you have reset your password, check your giving history in your Givelify profile to make sure there is no activity you don’t recognize. Again, it is unlikely hackers would use your account to make donations. If you notice any unauthorized activity contact us immediately.
For Churches and Nonprofits
Reset Your Givelify Dashboard Password
If you are a representative of a church or nonprofit and you use your Yahoo email address for your Givelify Dashboard login credential:
- Visit https://www.givelify.com/signin from a web browser (Internet Explorer, Chrome, Safari, etc.) on your computer.
- Click the Forgot your password link.
- Enter your email address and click Send Email.
You will receive an email with a link to reset your password.
You can also find these instructions on our Support site.
For All Yahoo Users
We cannot stress enough the need to secure your Yahoo accounts. Mashable published a useful article on all the steps you should take. We recommend following these instructions.
